The Wildsee

Since our chic holiday apartments are located directly on the banks of the Wildsee, this is of course always an ideal leisure activity on hot summer days. The southern bank of the lake with the Reither Moor has been a nature reserve since 1926 because of its botanical features.

The Seekirchl, the landmark of Seefeld

The Seekirchl once stood on a rocky island in the middle of the lake. Construction of the church began in 1629 under Archduke Leopold V. It was built by the famous court architect Christoph Gumpp from Innsbruck and completed in 1666. At the time of completion, the church stood in the middle of Lake Kreuzsee, which was created by Duke Sigmund the Rich in the 15th century. The church stood on a rocky island and was connected to the shore by a bridge. Since the lake was drained again in 1808, the Seekirchl is now on dry land - only the name remains. The Seekirchl is an octagonal, baroque central building with a dome; this type of construction is relatively rare in Tyrol. Inside there is a late Gothic cross and frescoes on the main altar, which indicate the importance of the church as a place of pilgrimage

or visit the parish church in the center of Seefeld,

This has long been one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in Tyrol. As is reported, Oswald Milser from the Schlossberg border fortress demanded a large host from the priest at Holy Mass on Maundy Thursday, March 25, 1384. When he received her, he sank into the ground up to his knees. The altar stone he was trying to hold on to also gave way. Both prints can still be seen today (to the right of the people's altar). A short time later, the host taken back by the priest was dyed red. This miracle attracted large numbers of pilgrims. The Tyrolean princes were also very impressed. Since the small church was no longer sufficient, Frederick, with his pockets empty, began building the new Gothic church in 1432, which took a long time and was continued by Frederick's son, Sigmund the Rich in Coins. The church was not completed until 1474. The parish church of St. Oswald is one of the most beautiful late Gothic buildings in Tyrol. Some details are particularly noteworthy, such as the tympanum relief above the main portal, which depicts the miracle of the host and the beheading of the church patron St. Oswald, the frescoes from the 15th century inside the church and the famous panel painting by Jörg Kölderer from 1502 (in Presbytery on the right), as well as the high altar with its late Gothic figures.
